Partial Hospitalization Program: Why Choose Branches Auburn Hills at Havenwyck Hospital?

At Branches Auburn Hills, a service of Havenwyck Hospital, we provide children and adults with structure, stability and support in outpatient programs tailored to your needs. Our partial hospitalization programs (PHP) offer focused mental health care in an outpatient setting.
Partial hospitalization, or day treatment, allows you to get comprehensive mental health care without hospitalization. You go home every night and on the weekends.
Partial hospitalization provides a full day of mental health treatment five days a week. Most people attend our program for about two weeks. Your next steps could be traditional outpatient therapy or another mental health program.
Highlights of our partial hospitalization program include:
- Compassionate providers: Our caring and experienced doctors, therapists and nurses are deeply committed to your journey to mental wellness.
- Flexibility: PHP can be a “step-down” program after completing inpatient treatment. You can also enter PHP directly as an alternative to hospitalization.
- Fast assessments: Call us today. We can typically schedule an assessment for the next day. You can start treatment right after your assessment if it’s a good fit for you.
- Virtual options: Our meeting rooms feature big telehealth screens, so you can join virtual therapy from home. You can see and hear your fellow participants, and they can see and hear you.
- Support for your return to school and work: We offer a transitional back-to-school period for your child, where we assess their progress after a day or two of attendance. Similarly, adults can benefit from support during a transition back to work.
- Access to inpatient care: We’re right across the street from Havenwyck Hospital’s inpatient hospital. Our location makes it easy for you if you’re stepping down from a higher level of care or need to transition to inpatient care.
- Support for transgender individuals: We affirm and respect transgender and gender nonbinary individuals. We provide a comfortable, welcoming environment tailored to your needs at any phase of your transition.

PHP at Branches Auburn Hills: What to Expect
We primarily use group therapy rather than individual therapy. Group therapy offers a strong space for learning together. You can gain insights from many different viewpoints.
We know past experiences of trauma can significantly affect your mental health. Our providers are trained to take a trauma-informed approach so you can feel respected and begin your healing process. They use dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to equip you with the tools to manage your emotions, improve relationships and tolerate stress.
Topics we explore in therapy include:
- Healthy body, healthy mind
- Emotional regulation
- Addictive behaviors
- Goal setting and roadmaps for change
- Relationships
